It’s a poor sort of memory that only works backwards

The collective unconscious  Carl Jung Harry Dean Stanton

There is a line in the movie Repo Man that goes something like this -

A lot o’ people don’t realize what’s really going on. They view life as a bunch o’ unconnected incidents ‘n things. They don’t realize that there’s this, like, lattice o’ coincidence that lays on top o’ everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you’re thinkin’ about a plate o’ shrimp. Suddenly someone’ll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o’ shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin’ for one, either. It’s all part of a cosmic unconsciousness.

- Miller says it. Carl Jung says something similar. When he does he calls it synchronicity; the experience of two or more events that occur in a meaningful manner the cause of which remain inexplicable to the person experiencing them. And the Germans have a word, “scheissenbedauern”, which means the disappointment you feel when things don’t turn out as badly as you’d expected. I always seem to get a feeling of schadenfreude every time I experience scheissenbedauern.

Life as we know it

Jeffrey Lewis – Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror

Jeffrey Lewis tells it like it is, and it is an anxiety dream put to music. Rather worryingly it is quite possibly a prophetic one too. Nevermind.

Oh… the pancakes!

That Zelig could be responsible for the behavior of each of the personalities he assumed means dozens of lawsuits. He is sued for bigamy, adultery, automobile accidents, plagiarism, household damages, negligence, property damages, and performing unnecessary dental extractions.
