“One fine morning, I awoke to discover that, during the night, I had learned to understand the language of birds. I have listened to them ever since. They say: ‘Look at me!’ or: ‘Get out of here!’ or: ‘Let’s fuck!’ or: ‘Help!’ or: ‘Hurrah!’ or: ‘I found a worm!’ and that’s all they say. And that, when you boil it down, is about all we say. (Which of those things am I saying now?)” – Hollis Frampton, A Pentagram for Conjuring the Narrative.
Time, waiting
An audio recording of an advert for Comcast that precedes selected video content on Time.com. While sitting through it, delayed, waiting for Michael Jackson rehearsal footage, I am subject to the promise of a superfast internet; one without lag; one with the capacity to deliver; one with an immediacy equal to all my (business) needs – a promise opposite to the experience the advert delivers.
Lessons learnt from a cascading style sheet
Number 2: In CSS, as one would hope in life, every rule is evaluated to see if the rule applies.
